Who am I?
I’m Tanja Russita — artist, author, illustrator. You are very welcome to browse, enjoy and buy my tango watercolors and shibari line drawings. I’ve been in branch for over 15 years, and my pictures are guaranteed AI-free, each and every single one is hand-drawn. Drawn with these very hands and imagined with this very brain.
Why do I paint on tango and shibari events?
Alongside my work in children’s books, I’m a devoted tango dancer and love to draw beautiful shibari — both are so much about connection. I am always on a hunt for moments of full concentration, connection, and openness — and when I see them, I try to capture them. For me, it is the essence of being alive.

I live in Sweden with my husband, our three kids, and the dog (obviously, we need money — taxes and prices are insane). Besides the pictures you see here I am illustrating, teaching online drawing courses for kids and adults, and taking on commissions of all kinds — from custom sketches to book illustrations.
